College park is located throughout the neighborhood behind midtown and is really cool and unique because its not an apartment complex but rather an assortment of old buildings, houses and duplexes that college park bought up, rents and manages. We looked at only 3 of their floor plans, but they have around 50 ranging from one bedroom studios to 17 bedroom houses (in case you want to start your own frat or sorority). The location is the main reason people live at college park, because not only is it a 5 minute walk to campus, but it's located right behind midtown, which has a lot of bars, restaurants and churches. It has a neighborhood feel that most complexes don't. All this sounds great, but location comes with a hefty price tag and the buildings are old and small. The appliances are probably from the early 80s and very few apartments come with a washer and dryer. Those that do are super expensive. Parking is a pain, but since you get a decal you can find something most of the time. It can be a good or a bad thing. If you're really into football, living back here would be awesome. College park also has a pool that is pretty deep compared to most places around in, though you'll have to walk a few blocks to get to it. Laundry is annoying because they have laundry facilities scattered throughout the area and no coin machines. It's a two minute walk to the stadium. Since they have a limited number of apartments for each floor plan, the apartments we were shown were already occupied. The last apartment we looked at (a two bedroom duplex) had a decor more suited for the out-doors and can be deemed mildly offensive. It's not prerogative. I would having a bass fishing shower curtain should be illegal.
Price: $849 (downstairs, carpeted floor) $899 (upstairs, wood floors)
two bedroom, one bathroom, 2 blocks from UF
This apartment is super cute, my friend Kathryn lives here and she absolutely loves it.
The Pros:
lots of light
super close to campus
water included in rent
good sized bedrooms and closets
The cons:
No washer or Dryer
One bathroom
tiny stove and fridge
tiny apartment
little pricey
Location 1605 NW 3rd place
Price: $899
2 bedroom, 1 bath, 3 blocks from campus
This spot was further than the first one we looked at, and it really wasn't as cute. It had a little more room, though it was still kinda small, and had more storage space. It was really dark and didn't have overhead lighting installed.
The Pros:
Storage
Location
breakfast bar
Dishwasher
Disposal
large bedrooms/closets
The Cons:
Small
Super old appliances
no Washer/ Dryer
1 bathroom
I really didn't like this place.
Location 1430 NW 5th Ave.
Price: $919
Two Bedroom, 1 bathroom
This place is at the back of college park, and is a pretty good walk to campus and has no bus routes.
The Pros:
Porch
washer/dryer/storage closet
eat-in kitchen
huge rooms
storage
The Cons:
Horrible decorating (unless you're into hunting camo and southern pride)
old appliances
poor lighting
not the greatest location in college park
To draw this epic post to a conclusion, College park has a great location, but is pricey and the apartments aren't all that and a bag of chips. If these apartments were located anywhere else you'd probably pay around $250 a month.
